This is my fourth post in the Blogging Challenge and my theme this year is “Travel”. Alphabet of the day is ‘D’ and my story is about my trip to Dalhousie, with my sister, sister-in-law and niece. Allow me to tell you this interesting story of four women, their travel tale from Mumbai to Dalhousie. I will let the pictures do the talking today:)
Dalhousie Trip
Dalhousie is a hill station in Chamba district, in the northern state of Himachal Pradesh, India. It is situated on 5 hills and has an elevation of 1,970 metres above sea level.( Wikipedia )
My sister (didi), sis-in-law (bhabhi) and niece (bhanji) took a mid morning flight from Mumbai and were in Delhi by lunch time. Post lunch we decided to go to Sarojini Nagar market for some Delhi-style shopping. Next morning we set out for Chandigarh by train (Shatabdi). The reason for this pit stop was my sister in law’s family in Chandigarh; we had dinner with them and next morning, started on our onward journey to Dalhousie by car. My bhabhi’s brother had arranged for the car and we had another dinner to look forward to with them, on our way back 🙂
An interesting place we came across in Dalhousie was the Kettle House Restaurant. It houses kettles from various parts of the world, they are on display on the walls of the restaurant. We had lunch here and I couldn’t stop admiring the kettles and walked around clicking pictures of the multicolored kettles in various shapes.
We visited Khajjiar ( also known as the mini Switzerland of India) , Kalatop, and Ponta Lake, in Dalhousie and on our way back, visited the Anandpur Sahib Gurudwara.

Beautiful post Sulekha . I love our hill stations and I am yet to go to Dalhousie. The pic r great and I esp liked the Food quote at Kettle house restaurant. Epicurean delight.
It’s definitely a beautiful and peaceful lake… loved the sunset picture too. I can see you had wonderful time with your family. Probably someday I will visit too 🙂
What a lovely place this is! I have never been to Dalhousie. Your narration made the whole journey come alive! I had plans to visit last Dec, but people warned me it would be too cold! When did you visit? The collection of kettles is so quaint!

Such a picturesque place. Loved the concept of Kettle House Restaurant… novel indeed. Though we keep going to Shimla so frequently, we have never been to this part of Himachal. Must add it in our travel wish list! Thanks for sharing, Sulekha 🙂
