My Angel

Wordy Wednesday Prompt

Her fairy tale

She lived on this earth for a short time, a mere 11.5 years to be precise. Our entreaties didn’t change her destiny and ours too, we stood mutely and watched her go. The universe ignored our pleas, rejected our humble requests to let her stay with us for some more time. We still had a lot of things to do, play catch, go for long drives, be each other’s support and strength but time was not on our side.

Our little princess rode away into the sunset, alone. We were left holding on to her sweet memories. Her fairy tale ended before we could bid her a final goodbye, our unsaid words haunt us. We pray that she is in a good place and her soul is at peace, RIP Sparky.

  1. I am really sorry. Have been following her moments via Facebook for the last year or so… I wish I had the right words to say because I know how horrible it feels to lose one who is a part of your family.

    1. Roshan, it is like a giant grater has scrapped your heart and left it bleeding. Some days you are okay but one fine day when you see her toy or find her hair on your t-shirt, the floodgates open again. I miss her unconditional love and cuddles so much… thanks for your visit.

      1. I understand how painful it is. We lost our beloved Dalmatian in 2007 and I still miss her. The waves of grief do become less frequent over time; then the happy memories come to the fore.

  2. I am so sorry for your loss, Sulekha. While nothing can replace the love Sparky gave you and the love you feel for her, maybe perhaps your loving memories of her, as expressed through these words will give you the strength to bear the loss. Take care.

    1. Sid, I pray that she is at peace but when I enter the empty house, or see her pictures on the wall, I break down. A pet becomes as dear as a child, so how does a mother not cry at her baby’s untimely death? Thanks for your kind words.
