Phoenix

Raindrops on rooftops make a din

Egged on by lightning and thunder

Making the house tremble

There was a crime committed here

Concealed by nature’s raw fury

The walls silently scream

The assault ceased mercifully

Golden sunshine bathed everything

She survived, thankfully

Cowards emerge out of shadows

Slink away into the darkness

Leave destruction behind

Her clothes in tatters hang thin

The bleeding lip and swollen jaw

A harrowing tale, tell

Pain and suffering don’t faze her

She wants Justice and dignity

Her will is unbroken

Rising like a Phoenix, she walks

Shielding her eyes from the sun, bright

A fire in her eyes.
