Tortured Minds

Tortured Minds

When a grieving heart hides its pain and smiles

The tortured mind wields a tranquil paint brush

Tear-streaked colours drip on the marble tiles.

The glossy facade of a crumbling block

Hides the peeling wallpaper and chipped paint

Grief and trauma of the mind remain locked.

Blue waters set the oceans on fire

Crimson flames cool the fiery fireplace

The attic is down and basement higher.

The cherry blossoms bloom for a fortnight

The heart holds on to love with all its might

Sunflowers dance in the golden sunlight.

The hard canvas is softly forgiving

Gives second chances to wayward brush strokes

Unconditional Love is so intriguing.

There’s a story behind every painting

Look for the odd in the ordinary

Hidden emotions of need and wanting.
