Today’s prompt at the BarAThon is FRAGILE LIVES and I bring you some mini poems (three lines with seventeen syllables in each short poem)
Fragile lives cringe
Shatter by the cruel blows
Of their kith and kin
The hungry girl cries
The boys are fed first always
Her big brother smiles
The new bride cowers
While perfect strangers judge her
She dare not complain
She was found hanging
Her room bolted from inside
Driven to end her life
Fragile lives cringe
Shatter by the cruel blows
Of their kith and kin

How beautifully you’ve presented the harsh truths of life!
Great writing, and take on the prompt!
Mayuri, thanks a ton for the lovely compliment. I am having so much fun participating in this BarAThon and interacting with like minded bloggers 🙂
Heart wrenching. Its amazing they way you put a few words together expressing life’s miseries in entirety.
Arpita, thank you for your lovely compliment.
Our world is such a complex mix of people… Some drive others to death while few still spread goodness. You depicted the harsh truth… How we suffer at the hands of the same species.
You said it, Rajlakshmi.
Aah! That’s a poignant one depicting the sad reality of life for many!
I felt sad while writing it.
Sulekha, every word spoke with poignancy about the bitter facts of life! My heart goes out to these poor souls for the lives they lead.
Shilpa, the change is happening but slowly. Hope things improve soon and no girl child is cursed and rejected.
Gender discrimination makes one’s blood boil! Beautiful verse, Sulekha!
Thanks Vidya.
It’s tragic that such mindsets still exist today and that their own friends and relatives drive women to this sad end. Beautifully thoughts Sulekha.
I know, tragic and unfair. Thanks
