What is I?

What is I?

Who is this place?

Why is the answer

Every breath is a lie.

Loud sirens at night

The threadbare shirt

Fond memories hurt

Real and fantasy fight.

The steep mountains

Oil spilled in the waters

As if it really matters

The climber gently falls.

Crooked teeth, bleeding gums

Power cuts and all is dark

A baby cries in the park

An air conditioner quietly hums.

Stumbling in the dark cave

Rattling bones and a shocked skull

Lanky pirates on the ship’s hull

Can my soul the mermaids save?

The ringing of the temple bell

Aroma of coffee and burnt toast

Doctors chasing a friendly ghost

I pray or curse, who can tell.
