Past – Fiction Monday

Past – A Sonnet

The Past can be a crate of memories

Put it on ice to preserve them for long

It’s a record of your many journeys

You made countless moves, some right and some wrong.

How often do you look back at your life?

Is the door to your past locked up for good?

The whispers about your absence are rife

It may be painful but I think you should.

There are teachings galore and life lessons

It’s a patchwork of stumbles and fumbles

Every time you look back, worries lessen

Retrospection helps with staying humble

When the past and present come together

The future’s blueprint is inked forever.

  1. This is so beautifully done, Sulekha. The past has a cleansing effect when our perspective shifts to the lessons learned. I see that when I let go of the hurts and anguish with a forgiving mindset. Love this poem!
