So now that we’ve all gotten our BlogFest 2012 party started, we either too pooped to stay up any longer or in my case, can’t sleep. And so here’s the writing prompt for the day by host of the day Susan Dusterhoft!
“Over the years, I have gone through periods of insomnia, but I know that one person’s reason for a sleepless night can be wildly different from the next person’s. So when was the last time you couldn’t sleep? What was the reason for not sleeping? What did you do to overcome it? I hope you all have fun with this one and don’t lose any sleep over it!”
Sleepless Poem
Insomnia attacked me one night,
I put up a good fight but,
Was no match for the bully,
that he clearly was.
I tossed and turned,
mumbled and groaned.
My eyes I kept shut,
But,
Sleep wasn’t to be found,
anywhere around.
I feigned sleep,
Snuggled deep into the mattress,
and started to softly snore.
This infuriated my tormentor,
and he jolted me awake,
with his sinister laughter.
Suddenly long forgotten cares,
worries, tensions galore.
Found their way into my head,
to needle me some more.
I can hold my own against,
someone who fights fair.
But this kind of underhandedness,
is uncalled for and a disgrace.
I gave up trying to sleep and,
wrote a poem instead.
Sharing it with you here,
Tell me what do you think?
Thank you for inspiring me,
You were my inspiration.
I have you to thank,
for this nocturnal creation.
