Shadows on my soul
Enrich the gloomy darkness
Until I am whole.
Her smiling sad eyes
Tragic portrait of heartbreak
Landscape of sorrow.
Happiness scares me
A desert oasis looms
Parched throat and singed flesh.
Empty dug up grave
A dark void six feet under
Sobbing crimson earth.
Raging wildfires
Gasping and clawing at throats
Lit up ashen dreams
Comforting sorrow
Solace for my happy heart
Two strange bedfellows
-Sulekha
This haiku beautifully captures the depth of sorrow and the contrast between pain and hope. Each line feels powerful and heartfelt! You have a way with words, Sulekha!! Love this expression of yours!!
Shilpa, thank you for such a beautiful comment. A writer lives for such appreciation. Haiku is my favourite form of poetry and I love experimenting with it.
