Shadows on my soul
Enrich the gloomy darkness
Until I am whole.
Her smiling sad eyes
Tragic portrait of heartbreak
Landscape of sorrow.
Happiness scares me
A desert oasis looms
Parched throat and singed flesh.
Empty dug up grave
A dark void six feet under
Sobbing crimson earth.
Raging wildfires
Gasping and clawing at throats
Lit up ashen dreams
Comforting sorrow
Solace for my happy heart
Two strange bedfellows

Shilpa, thank you for such a beautiful comment. A writer lives for such appreciation. Haiku is my favourite form of poetry and I love experimenting with it.
This is both haunting and beautiful, Sulekha. Your words carve deep into the reader’s mind and linger long after—brilliantly done!
Vinitha, the writer in me is grateful the writer in you. Thanks for your lovely comment.
