About the authors:

Sulekha is a dreamer, healer and writer; loves drinking strong and sweet tea, listening to music, watching movies, spending time with her family and friends, and pouring out her thoughts on the pages of her notebooks. She was born and brought-up in Mumbai and now lives in Delhi/NCR with her husband, Vikram Rawat, and now grown-up children, Shloka and Kartik. Sulekha also has a side-kick named Sparky, her 11-year-old Dalmatian who listens to her read out her rough drafts and gives her suggestions for improving them with a shake of her adorable head. She is testimony to the fact that an apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, and her writing is proof enough. A fierce defender of animal as well as human rights (and, yes, in that order), Shloka is also an avid gamer with an eclectic and ever-growing list of interests.

Book Launch at Mumbai on 8 January 2015

A Patchwork Quilt was launched in Mumbai on 8th January 2015 by my mother, Mrs Swaran Bakshi. My father, Cdr. Om Prakash Bakshi, has always been my inspiration and this book is dedicated to his memory. We share a very special bond, a date that is etched on my soul, 8th January. It is my birthday and he chose this day to leave this world, depriving it of a magnificent man, my hero. He believed in me and was my most ardent and boisterous fan, he loved reading my work and would often urge me to publish it. It was his dream to see me succeed as a writer; guess it is too late, but I am sure he is watching over me and feeling a quiet pride in my accomplishment. This one’s for you dad.

Book Review –
The book you are reading has a lot to do with how motivated you’ll be to finish it. And this is exactly what happened with me. I read the mesmerizing poems of “A Patchwork Quilt” at one sitting and couldn’t get to sleep after i finished it. The combination of a strong yet emotional content and creative imagination kept buzzing in my mind. The collection of poems were very engaging.

The most sensitive topics were penned down very beautifully and effortlessly. I have too many favorites to mention. Its said a book is a dream that you hold in your hand, the poems written gave me the same feeling. It was a very heart warming, uplifting and satisfying experience. All i can say is, its a Must Read. front-cover-newThe Amazing Book Review by Mrs Kanwal Bedi

Dear Sulekha and Shloka I have been mulling over your poems for a few weeks now. I just pick 2 or 3 poems to read at a time for the beauty of each line and verse to sink in. Just when I decide on a favorite poem the next one seems better and the next and the next so I give up. Each one has a story to tell.

Your poems enthrall my mind and mood. Shloka is as gifted as you Sulekha. Such depth in thought and expression at a young age is so remarkable. This book of beautiful , funny, sad, heart wrenching poems will be my companion for the years to come. Thank you for touching the strings of my soul.- Mrs Kanwal Bedi
