What If? – Sonnet

WHAT IF?

What if I pretend all is fine with me?

Would it assauge your guilt and relieve you?

When you look at me what is it you see?

Is my smile fake or my agony true?

Unaware and unconcerned you move on.

What if you broke my heart and cursed my life?

Was it genuine love or just a con?

Can you come over and pull out the knife?

What if your world came crashing down on you?

Will you survive this tragic test of time?

How will you go on and what will you do?

What if it was fate’s response to your crime?

I wish you and I had not met at all!

What if that day I had ignored your call?
