When I wrote this story, I felt it needed something more. The characters and dialogues were nice but I wanted more than nice, I wanted extraordinary! Wanted my story to sing at the top of its voice and express the emotions layered in its pages. The poet in me overpowered the author, also within me and let its presence be known throughout the story. Each chapter of this story begins and ends with poetry and I love the way the prose and verses interact, communicate and add another element to my story.

When I wrote my debut novel
Little did writer in me know
A poet’s heart is poetic first
The prose sits in the second row.
My story is peppered with poems
Like fairy dust on your dreams
Shimmering sun on golden domes
Scrubbed old magic lamp gleams.
My poems interspersed with prose
Their verses sing the novel’s song
Rhythmically my story flows
Here both the prose and verse belong
