I am thrilled to be interviewing someone so charming, creative and versatile. A friend, mentor, director- Anamika. I have known her for a few years now and last month I enrolled in her theatre workshop for moms. I have learnt so much about myself along with the techical aspects of theatre over the course of the workshop.It brings me immense pleasure in introducing Anamika to you. So let’s get started…

Who is Anamika Gautam?
A compassionate human being who is trying to make women and children feel empowered and happy by realising their potential, to be able to express and be confident to take decisions through Theatre. She dreams to reach out to more women to spread happiness, as women are the pillars of the family. A happy woman creates a happy home and society.
When did you start Ekk Junoon?
I started EKK JUNOON- Masti Ki Pathshala in 2015 and Ekk Junoon – Mom’s Theatre, came into being in 2017.
How do you plan your workshops? What’s your ideal student like?
While planning workshops I keep in mind that there is enough of self expression and training along with life skill activities and fun.
All students are amazing, as each one brings along a different set of challenges and energy.
Is it possible to be excited about theatre every day? What keeps you motivated?
Yes, theatre brings a different kind of perspective and approach to normal routine. Each day a fresh thought, a new possibility, keeps me motivated.
Is it difficult to Learn acting after a certain age?
On the contrary, it’s easier as you have experienced all emotions ,situations in your life.
What did you observe when you started your workshops with Noida circle of moms?
It was amazing to see how similar yet totally different we all are; in terms of our sensitivity, insecurities, especially about our families.
How do you decide on the subject for your plays? Is theatre the need of the hour?
Through discussions about whatever they find disturbing or thought provoking.
Theatre works wonder for the physical as well as emotional well-being of an individual. I even recommend drama therapy in hospitals and institutions.
Any tips you would like to give the readers.
Theatre is magical. It enables you to explore and know yourself more. It’s totally empowering. Indulge in theatre.
How is Scriptwriting different from story writing?
It’s like physics and chemistry.
Story is more about the plot and narration (Physics)
Script involves detailed expressions and dialogues of characters, their relation, psyche and behaviour. (Chemistry)

True that. I love this theatre group, we are around 15 moms who are learning the act of emoting, voice modulation, staging a play and are performing on stage on the 17th of March. Women power 🙂 Our director is a brilliantly creative woman who has scripted this amazing play and we are her eager and happy students. Learning never ends…
