Emotional Eating #Poetry

Haiku

Food’s her savior

Soothes her pain and anxiety

Nonjudgmental friend

Starved for affection

The pantry satiates her

Her own oasis

She loves life, not food

When loved ones push her away

Food welcomes her home

Their words grate her skin

Sharp barbed wires wounding her

Eating dulls the ache

Everybody leaves

She sits with her sweets and breads

No longer afraid

  1. I find it difficult to eat when I am under stress, but, when I am bored, or lonely, then I just head to the pantry and reach for my fav chips and stuff. And, if there’s a pastry in the fridge, then my day is made!
Lovely piece, Sulu..Actually, sweet should be the word…Sweet as sugar – you and your words! <3

  2. I love with your writing. Story of our lives this one. So many of us find solace in food. A steaming bowl of soup, kadhi-chawal, a slice of pizza can solve so many problems, innit?

  3. Good blog you’ve got here.. It’s difficult to find good quality writing like yours these days. I truly appreciate individuals like you! Take care!!
