  1. Hi Sulekha, your tale took me there with you! Tell me did that Chechi finally follow the timings you wanted? I’ve heard trying tales with domestic help in Kerala 😉
    Cheers,

  2. Hahaha.. i am sure the chaychee must be dumbfounded. The place is beautiful, definitely. But domestic help, terrible.

  3. Sulekha, what a lovely post and your description of your peripatetic life makes me quite envious of all the places you have lived in. 🙂 I lived in the same house until I was 25!
I’d love to know what happened after your conversation with Chechi – did she comply? Or did you have to look for a new chechi. 🙂

  4. Learning a new language once you’re forced to live there is a bittersweet experience. You learn so much, and yet, when you have to move to the next destination, you feel that there is a little more left to be learnt!
    Loved this post 🙂

  5. Kochi is beautiful. I have been there quite a few times on official visits. Did your Chechi finally come in the morning hours?

  6. This is my city you’re talking about and I absolutely it 🙂 I’m curious like the others…
Did she finally start coming at the time you wanted?
Also, nowadays most of such chechis will understand basic English and Hindi, so there wouldn’t be much trouble if you do decide to come over again 😉
