My Crowning Glory…I Love You

With the launch of the new Dove Nourishing Oil Care Range, Dove and IndiBlogger present the “Love your Hair and it loves you back” blogger contest. Today’s busy city life leaves us with very little time to take care of ourselves, especially our hair. What small and special things do you do to your hair to nourish it and make you feel happier and more beautiful?

“Love is a two way street: Love your hair and it loves you back!”

This is my entry for the contest.

My crowning glory…I love you

You have been with me through thick and thin.
Have been my shield, protecting me,
from the harsh realities of life.
You’re the reason, I lift my head high,
and give it a regal toss, to make a point.
You’ve been my priceless ornament.
My agony, my ecstasy, my deep sigh.

You were there, when I saw him for the first time,
You hid my blushes from his adoring eyes.
I had twirled a lock and brushed my lips,
when I had wanted to kiss him instead.

You were the first thing he noticed.
He wanted to run his fingers through you.
When we became better acquainted,
he wanted to bury his face in you.

He loved you as much as I did,
even more so, cause you made me shine,
with beauty and grace,
and he was proud to be seen with me,
and I was thrilled that he was mine.

I am sorry, if I’ve ever hurt you,
with my silly perm and straightenings.
My crazy delusions of being a redhead,
of my numerous bleachings.
I was young and foolish and,
didn’t know any better.

Now I am a wise young lady,
hide my most precious possession.
Protect it from the heat and dust,
by wrapping a scarf around it.
My trusted umbrella is my mobile roof,
above my head, keeping it cool.
Keeping the rain and Sun off it,
I am no longer the reckless, silly fool.

I love you, my crowning glory,
And will never do anything to hurt you.
You are the reason, he is mine
And I am eternally grateful to you.
For my fairy tale, love story.

I will wash and condition you,
Cover you with a soothing mask.
And on days that I am unable to,
do that, I will use the serum instead.

Every night when I comb my hair,
I say a silent prayer for us.
I brush out all the sadness from your life
and you fill my life with happiness.

Our love will stand the test of time,
together, we shall win the race.
You will have your soft silky texture,
and me my sweetheart’s embrace.

  1. Sulekhha, this poem about your hair is just beautiful! It's easy to understand why it is your crowning glory. Being quite the lover of my hair as well, I can totally relate. I've always said that if I cut my hair too short or straighten the curls, Bella is gone. It's like part of my personality gets erased. It's not that my hair makes up the essence of who I am, but more like it helps define the image that is me. Your entry for Dove is just wonderful! Good luck!

  2. A simply awesome poem! I must admit, if I am vain about any part of my body, it's my hair. I pamper mine, too! 🙂
Sure hope you win that contest, too!
    Blessings!

  9. Shhh… I just made my hair red lol… Actually my hair isn't as healthy, I have it thin and have been advised many times to consult a dermatologist about it. But I never found time to do that.

Crowning glory, lol… what a way to pay a tribute to our hair 🙂 I'm wishing for more good hair days now 😛 ~ and hope to win my sweetheart's embrace 😀
